Movie identification needed

I saw a few minutes of a movie on TV and I can’t place it. Can someone help me identify this movie?

• A guy tells someone he won’t work for him.
• A couple guys give a ring to a woman who’s fiance died (hit by a bus?)
• A woman comes to a bar and is asked where her band is. She exclaims, that they should have been there already.

On this trip there were times when I was so tired I needed to verify that my timezone calculations were right, so I would log into a Unix machine in that timezone and ask it what time it was there.
