Jun. 27th, 2004 07:18 amNJ for Democracy (which used to be NJ for Dean) is doing voter registration at theaters showing F911. Here's a typical account:
I wound up going back to Red Bank this evening with 2 of my friends to join Carol already at the theatre to do voter reg.and flyering. And my friends and I saw F9/11 again. I enjoyed a 2nd viewing very much.. To date, between Fri and Sat, not counting what Judith did after we left on Fri., we have 17 signed voter reg.forms, and handed out more to people who didn't want to give out their personal info to us, but took it to fill out and send in on their own. We've signed up 30 people to our mailing list for Monmouth for Democracy, and handed out about 300 flyers for NJ4D and the meetup, and another 50 on how the Patriot Act erodes your rights. We had people coming up to us and thanking us for being out there and doing our thing. Lots of people came out of the theatre in a dazed or upset state. Some couldn't talk because they were so shaken up; others sought us out to get info from us. One question asked over & over was: "Where is the Monmouth Co.Kerry campaign and how do I get in touch with them?" or "Where can I get a Kerry button or bumpersticker? " I told them to go to Kerry's website, or if they sent me an email about it, I would email them the info."Some couldn't talk because they were so shaken up" -- I keep hearing that over and over.Tomorrow I'll be in Asbury for the Asbury Park Jazz Festival. The Kerry meetup group will have a table there, and they said I could bring some leaflets, etc.
