He had an Irish great-great-great grandfather, and there's a song "There's no one as Irish as Barack O'Bama" making the rounds, with different people adding more verses and setting it to different tunes.

Actually, Obama himself made the joke when running for the Democratic nomination for Senate in 2004 that he'd have a better chance if his name was O'Bama. (The Democratic party machine in Chicago was once heavily Irish-American.)
