Of course, I wasn’t sure if I wanted people to be honest or take my side. I think people were mostly taking my side, which is what I needed at first. However, there were certainly times where honesty would have been better.
Also, I think "we knew it was happening" is technically being honest, but also not being helpful...and not really taking a side at all. "you were wrong but [partner] was still a jerk about it, but you caused the fault to begin with" is honest, not taking your side, but helpful.
Although maybe it's more of an "I told you so", and really "take my side" is more of a "please validate me" as opposed to "please agree with me." *shrug*
most folks who posted "I'd rather have honesty" probably aren't posting in the middle of the pain. Hell, srakkt has since apologized to me and we're friends, but I can still understand where I was coming from and totally validate my need to have sympathy in the form of "taking my side."
