Dad's politics
Jul. 20th, 2003 05:02 pmMy father has cancer and is in the hospital right now. He isn't expected to live long.
At one point I happened to mention something about the VA (Veterans Administration) [clarification: he isn't at a VA hospital] and he jumped at the opportunity to say that if we had decent healthcare coverage in this county we wouldn't hardly need a VA. He then started talking about how he wanted to see me work to impeach Bush. He said that we should be working on it on two levels: the legal level, and then we should have a mean and dirty PR campaign.
I didn't have the heart to point out to him that the problem with impeachment at this point is that both houses are Republican controlled right now. However, I did mention that there are a lot of impeachment web sites on the internet and that people are working on it.
He seemed to be very happy with this.
I talked with him about Howard Dean and how he's our best hope for replacing Bush.

Date: 2003-07-20 04:06 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad you can spend some time with him.
It can actually be a blessing to have a baby around in times like these. They take your mind off of sad things. I brought Oliver to see my grandmother when she was dying of pneumonia, and he got some smiles out of her. I was really glad that they got to meet each other.
