My father has cancer and is in the hospital right now. He isn't expected to live long.

At one point I happened to mention something about the VA (Veterans Administration) [clarification: he isn't at a VA hospital] and he jumped at the opportunity to say that if we had decent healthcare coverage in this county we wouldn't hardly need a VA. He then started talking about how he wanted to see me work to impeach Bush. He said that we should be working on it on two levels: the legal level, and then we should have a mean and dirty PR campaign.

I didn't have the heart to point out to him that the problem with impeachment at this point is that both houses are Republican controlled right now. However, I did mention that there are a lot of impeachment web sites on the internet and that people are working on it.

He seemed to be very happy with this.

I talked with him about Howard Dean and how he's our best hope for replacing Bush.

Big hugs, Tom.

It sounds like your Dad is real proud of you.

Blessings to your dad. I hope he's comfortable at least. I watched my FIL die of cancer, and also my grandmother. *sigh*

Someone pointed out that the GOP controlled congress when Nixon was ousted too. It can be done.

Tom,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I'm glad you can spend some time with him.

It can actually be a blessing to have a baby around in times like these. They take your mind off of sad things. I brought Oliver to see my grandmother when she was dying of pneumonia, and he got some smiles out of her. I was really glad that they got to meet each other.

Our thoughts go out to you and your family...

I guess all you can do is spend the time you have left together. It sounds like you are having good and meaningful talks.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. Sounds like a great guy. His politics of hope for the future, even through his wish for impeachment, are something to remember.

Hugs,
Gerard

I’m sorry to hear about your father, but I’m glad you’re getting the time with him, and I’m glad he’s taking it with grace and no regrets. I hope that’s how I feel about my own death when the time comes.

It’s interesting that the people who most vocally support the military, and who most vocally oppose single-payer Government-run health plans as “socialized medicine” that won’t work, generally also vigorously support the VA, which is government-run single-payer socialized medicine. If it’s such a bad idea, why should we subject our veterans to it?

Because Howard Dean will bring in that left wing fringe that just controls every election - except for the fact that it doesn't. That will unseat Bush in a heartbeat. Leftwing idiots like you really have to take your head out of your asses and realize that you turn more people off than you can ever hope to convince.

Oh yeah - thanks for the little rant on your Web site. I found it precious. It's nice to be famous if only in the whiny bitchings of people that have reached such an old age that they still can't make up their minds concerning sexual orientation.

The hilarious part of this is that you live in Minneapolis, which is quite possibly the #1 or #2 bisexual capitol of the U.S. Be careful... you're surrounded!
