Someone I used to work with designed the worst user interfaces I’ve ever seen. They were (to his face) described as “soviet”. He, of course, thinks he’s the best UI designer in the world.

Today on a mailing list he wrote about the terrible UI at the bank he uses.

I just laughed and laughed.

Yeah.. I thought it was amusing--yeah Chase'serr.. that bank's site isn't *the best*, but I can pay bills, download to Quicken, and order checks from the website just fine. :)

I worked with one of those developers too, and she likewise thought that she had the best UIs ever. I was, for a short time, supposed to work on her code, but that was even worse than the UI. I'm not especially happy with people who seek to show that they are oh so clever by writing tricky code.
