Safari can be pretty difficult to develop for. We're getting better ever day. Have you seen GWT? It lets you write Java but it compiles into JavaScript... and detects your browser so that it can do the right thing for each browser. The better it gets at doing Safari, the better all apps using it get. We just open-sourced GWT so hopefully more people will be using it.
