Last year it was “the war against Christmas”. I predict that this story will be the 2006 version. The difference, of course, is that this story is real and really important: teachers in NJ are protected in their rights to express political positions (Gish vs. Board of Ed), but they can not be permitted to spread false information, lies, or hate-speech.

Christ, what sort of asshole tells a classroom full of kids they're going to hell?

This reminds me of the guy who gave a sermon at a coworker's funeral (I had a coworker drop dead suddenly on the train earlier this year. It was quite shocking). Anyway, this person-I-refuse-to-call-a-pastor gave a lovely sermon in which he all but told the friends and family present that the deceased is now in hell. He also managed to work in a reference to the my coworker's brother, who passed a short time before he did.

This is why I like the theory behind catholic priests being celibate. Their genetic line is not allowed to continue. Perhaps this theory should be spread to all religions?
