If you haven’t had any sleep in 3 days and the interviewer offers to reschedule, do it. Don’t take questions for 20 minutes then start insulting the interviewer.

Corollary: The next time someone doesn’t take my offer to reschedule, I will say that its policy that we reschedule and politely hang up.

Time management rule #1: If you have been awake for 2 days and you have a big interview in 24 hours and you're not sure you'll get time to sleep between now and then, call ahead and reschedule the interview just to be on the safe side.

Is it ok to tell the interviewer to "pound sand"?

(I mean, at least in that case the fellow wouldn't have wasted 20 min?)

Well - if you haven't had any (or much) sleep in 3 days, and don't expect the situation to change or improve, there's something to be said for trying to make the best of a bad deal.

I do agree that it's a bad idea to insult the interviewer - but I'd have to say that in general (and not a reflection on you, Tom) there are some processes which do a better job than others of frustrating the interviewe(e|r).

If you're not going to do the scheduling, find someone who is conpetent and stick to the schedule. Don't jerk the interviewee around.

Been trying to interview at Cisco for a week now with 4 people and have been stood up not once, not twice, but *3* times now. If if were not Cisco I would have told them to fuck off a long time ago, but have managed to contain my anger in the meantime. These interviews are during the day making it very diffcifult to find discreet time to conduct such an interview.

Wow.

Maybe it's an unfair prejudice, but I'd expect that someone who hasn't slept in 3 days might have some issues that preclude my wanting them to work where I'm at (unless it's caused by a new baby or something).

Hrm.....

the worst part is this person probably won't understand why he didn't get the job.

Besides not understanding when the "emergency" is over and it's time to go home and sleep.....even when given the idea.....sigh.

No, but [insert excuse here] :) They come to interviews sick or with colds, without rescheduling, and then bitch about it, or me!
