Soda Distributors to End Most School Sales

This is a big deal to me. I think the sale of soda in schools is just wrong. Now the soda companies will still be selling water and other products, but it is a step in the right direction.

(Another great thing that Bill Clinton is doing... by the way)

I was impressed to see that he'd brokered this. I especially like that it has common-sense portion-control restrictions (8oz for elementary school kids) in addition to limiting the types of beverages.

I agree about soda in schools, although I think it's just one step in the right direction -- there's a lot of inappropriate crap available in school lunch lines, too.

He has his downsides but I still think Clinton = best president of my lifetime.

Is also practicing what he preaches. After his well-documented weight and food issues, and his heart surgeries, he's clearly excercising and eating better than he ever has.

He's an inspiration as I figure out how not to eat so much and get healthier.

I now believe that the mocking of Clinton going jogging every day was part of the Republican tactic of always recommending Democrats do things that are bad for them, or stop doing things that are good for them.

Definitely a step in the right direction, and kudos to Clinton's foundation for brokering this. Diet soda, which hasn't been removed, still has artificial sweeteners and additives, and the bottled water Coke/Pepsi sell is municipal water that has been filtered, as opposed to spring water. Once these hurdles are removed, I'll be a happier camper.

Also, "juice," which they're still alowed to sell, can cover a lot of territorry, not all of it healthy.

Unfortunately, the rule is about total time in the office. You're ineligible if you've served at least 6 years.

I find it interesting that they even sell soda in schools. Where I went to school there was never any soda (or candy, for that matter) available, even up through high school. The only soda machines in my high school were in the teachers' lounge. You could only get milk or juice in the cafeteria.
