Computer science majors know Hoare’s algorithm, QuickSort. This is the guy. Doug McIlroy was my M101 (now 18.01) - introductory Calculus instructor in my freshman year at MIT in 1956!

He was also the author of the EPL (early PL1) compiler we used in the early stages of Multics development.

So you've joined the collective? Quite a stealth position since your homepages don't seem to indicate that. Along with Udi Manber, Bill Weihl, and other recent Googlers. At this pace Google will employ everyone on the planet in several years....
