Today I made this sign and put copies between the last two reams of paper in the supply cabinet.

I really like the disclaimer at the bottom. Puts it all into perspective.

I'll bet there'll be someone in the office who gets offended when they see the sign. I remember some of the grousing when we put up a sign on the coffee machine at work about making the next pot.

That is hi-larious! I just might jank it for the next time our office manager goes on vacation (or perhaps just as a lark, 'cuz it ROCKS!).

Remember the sign at the Registrar's office which was oh-so-comforting? "Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."

What do you want to bet that even with the sign, you will at some point get a frantic call saying, "We're out of paper!!"?

There was a "My Turn" column in Newsweek a few months back by an office worker who was fed up at an intern who hung bunches of signs around the place -- the usual stuff, like "Clean up your mess when done eating" and "Please refill the paper tray when you empty it." I wrote a letter (which was published) saying that although I do think that putting up dozens of signs is pretty obnoxious, the intern might not have felt it necessary if people would practice a little common courtesy. Seems like hardly anyone thinks of others anymore (if they ever did).

I got really tired of people, including instructors, coming up to a computer in the lab with a sign on it saying, "Maintenance in progress -- do not touch", flipping the sign over and starting to use the machine, that finally ended up making a sign that kept everyone, including my co-workers away from the machine in question.

"Touch this machine and become human prey of Marshall."

It's not automation, but it's effective!
