Movie Review: In America
Nov. 24th, 2003 10:02 pmJim Sheriden ("My Left Foot", "In The Name of the Father") and his 2 daughters have written a film that is going to win big at the Oscars. In America is a semi-autobiographical story of their first couple years in the U.S. about 20 years ago.
It so sad. Yet, it is optimistic without being sappy.
I can't recommend it unless you bring a bottle of prozac and a box of tissues. But I do recommend it.
Side note: Let me explain just how sad it was. Afterwords I went to my car and when the radio came on the annoucer was saying, "2 million prostitutes" and that didn't cheer me up. I changed the channel and they were playing R.E.M.'s song "Bad Day" and it just seemed more appropriate.
