DP Celebration in NJ predicted to draw thousands
I spent a lot of time earlier this week making pages for this event. It's amazing how difficult it is even when someone else is supplying the text. Anyway, the interesting thing is that since the law goes into effect on July 10, and that's a Saturday, many towns are opening their clerk's office on the weekend to be the first to register Domestic Partnerships.

w00t! and all that. (and now onto marriage... NJ will be next, I'm sure. The lawsuit is going well.)

I'm surprised no one has sued to get an MA marriage recognized in another state yet. Seems to me they have iron-clad constitutional grounds for it. (Full Faith & Credit Clause, anyone?) But then, I guess the governor has curtailed that somewhat by not allowing out-of-state couples to marry there. Still, all it takes is one resident couple moving out...

DOMA is a federal law that says that if states marry same-sex couples the other states don't have to recognize them.

Right, but it's still against the Constitution, which takes precedence over federal laws. I assumed that no one had challenged it to date because no state had yet allowed same-sex couples to marry (thus, no standing to sue).
