I keep seeing the number 1138 this week. Clocks, prices, serial numbers, software, etc.

Weird.

Uh oh. That's "BELL" upside down (with lowercase els). Clearly this means something.

Is George Lucas around?

came here to say this. Obviously Tom's in a George Lucas movie. Hopefully it's not The Phantom Menace.

Oh, I dunno. American Graffiti was pretty good, as were the original, as-released Chapters 4, 5, and 6 of the Star Wars saga. (Han shot first, dammit.) Unfortunately Chapters 1, 2, and 3 were...kinda mediocre, at best, and that's what people remember.

Many creative artists start going downhill when they get big enough that there's no longer anyone who can tell them "no". By some reckonings, Lucas got to that point somewhere after The Empire Strikes Back, which many Star Wars aficionados I've talked to say was the best movie of the six.

One of the reasons that "Empire" is so great is that Lucas didn't direct it. I wish he had gone with a couple of different directors for the new movies. I think Lucas (finally) did a great job on "Revenge of the Sith" but he frankly should have tried harder earlier and made "Phantom Menace" that great. Oh well.

In fact, I'm sure we could come up with at least 1138 ways that "Phantom" should've been done better (at least 500 of those having to do with Jar Jar, of course). :-)
