People are betting on whether or not Palin will be replaced on the ticket. I've never placed a bet on intrade.com but it is very tempting.

Graph of who believes "Sarah Palin to be withdrawn as Republican VP nominee/candidate before 2008 presidential election"

Look at how it has gone up in the last week!

Gotta love it. Either way the McCain campaign loses. Either they replace her and admit to a massive error in judgment, which the Obama campaign can then harp upon like gangbusters, or they keep her and look like idiots for refusing to admit to said massive error. Schweet!

Or she steps down because she "realizes she needs to be with her family" or somesuch.

I have to admit I feel bad for her. I don't like her, her politics are not for me and I suspect her parenting violates my sensibilities (esp. in the treating boys and girls equally arena), but she didn't really deserve this whole mess. Admittedly she could've had the common sense to decline the invitation from the McCain campaign, but still.

You are not the target audience she was picked to appeal to.

Given that only one has been dumped in the past forty years, and there have been some real liabilities in that time, I still think this is a foolish bet to make.

The existence of this market does mean that if McCain does decide to drop her, the first indication will be in that price as those with inside knowledge about the move seek to profit from it.

I think she'll resign after about a year of the VP-ship should the bizarre situation that McCain/Failin' is actually elected. Something about being home to take care of her family, more time with her grandchild, etc.
