I don't trust her information. In her "Deviant Desires" book, she linked furry fetish with a fetish for being crushed like a bug -- I connection I've NEVER encountered in 10 years in the furry fandom. It was ludicrous.

I've seen this(or a variation of it, at least) something in the recent past and for the most part found it amusing but there a few puzzling spots.

The concept of including attraction to fat women (fat admirers) a fetish frosts my (ample) bottom. Why is it that if a man only dates blondes, it's a preference but if it's fat women it's a fetish? Feh.

Because blondes are NATURAL. Oh, wait, no. Most of them aren't.

And yeah, I'm pretty bent sexually, but I'm not a fetishist, regardless of my freakish preferences. There is a difference between preference and fetish that I think involves *focus*, and I'm not convinced that compiling fetishes even makes sense because there's a matter of degree.

For instance, if I prefer to dress up my partner in a frilly skirt before sex, it's a lot different than if I can't achieve orgasm at all unless I dress up my partner in a frilly skirt. Or if I spend a significant percentage of time when I should be doing other things thinking about dressing someone up in a frilly skirt.

So in that way, I agree with you 100%, being a fat admirer or only being into blondes... those are what I'd call preferences, unless the focus changes like I've described above. I'm not sure why and where the line is drawn for things like scat or SM, but I suspect that it exists because "things I do not do" are a fetish, and everything else must be mainstream. ;)

Technically the term "fetish" means that you can't receive pleasure without it. However I've come to accept that the common usage is "preference" or "interesting thing I tried". I mean... what if you try furrysex just once to see if you like it... do you say, "I tried a new fetish this weekend to see if I liked it" or do you say, "I tried a new thing that if I develop a fixation about and eventually can not orgasm without doing it this weekend to see if I liked it"

As far as most blonds not being natural... now you're gonna tell me the easter bunny isn't real. Shit, now I'm paranoid about all the redheads I know.

the links between fetishes are... lacking(there should be a conceptual link between SM and non-consenting partners for example, as both contain the power-play element, at least, that's my hypothesis, also, the link between object transformation and clothing fetishes is missing, those are combined quite often)

all in all, a good attempt, but she clearly doesn't watch enough porn.
