I note the responders' userpics. Why is believing so important, instead of logically determining that someone has the right programs and will do the right things? That's my real problem with this whole thing -- that it's turned from politics to religion. I'm on the verge of resolving to get all of my info about this election only from print.

Because campaigns are a sales function, after the election it is about good management.

Have you read "Don't Think of an Elephant" or his new book? Really. If you aren't sure why the dialog has changed, check out his books. His whole point is that you can't think like an engineer and get elected. You have to talk about hope and dreams, not bits and bites.

I've read lots of Lakoff. I think he's full of crap -- or, worse, if he's right, America is over and done with. Nothing turns me off in a campaign more than hopes and dreams.
