Huh? We’re withdrawing 20,000 troops by July? But the surge added 20,000 troops “just for one year”. that would be... JULY!

Now he’s getting all sorts of press as if the war is over.

JULY??? That’s so far away there’s no accountably in such a claim.

That's the Bush used-car magic: setting expectations so massively low that the audience starts viewing stasis as progress. "well, hey, the floor ain't exactly rusted -through-, except there by the brake pedal, hell, and he said they just replaced the transmission, even if he didn't quite tell me what with..."

Love the new buzzword they rolled out for his pep talk... "reconciliation". Don't they teach military history at West Point anymore? Yeesh.

The C student has a very low bar to jump over to make his parents happy. I'm sure, also, that by "withdraw" they mean "send home", which they were doing anyway.

It's a tough line, though . . . that action is at least a *start* and he should be given positive feedback so as to encourage more. After all, it least *appears* Bush is listening to whom he represents.

But yeah, this doesn't make him any where near "good". Just better than "deliberately crippling the people and country he presides over." You know, like Saddam Hussein used to do.
