Today during a meeting my boss mentioned that “Tom *mumble* is retiring... going to spend a lot of time fishing”. I wasn’t at the meeting, but an hour later I start getting IMs asking questions about my plans for fishing. I, being ignorant of the situation, am answering them with answers that just happened to make sense to them. Comedy ensued.

I’m not retiring. Make a note.

That you weren't retiring, nor going fishing ... that he wasn't talking about you.

I’m not retiring.

Me either. In fact, I actually list my job title as sysadmin now, not software engineer or SCM specialist with sysadmin on the side. I still do lots of ClearCase, but I also run our development lab. Hope things are cool at GOOG. I saw several tempting job posts from there but the thought of commuting into the city......

After today, I do want to retire....

me: Uhhh, why?

AD: Because we just thought that our scripts may not work in the new OS space..

me: NOW? You are thinking of this NOW? You are due to migrate your production environment to these new machines SATURDAY and you are only thinking of this NOW?

ad: Well, its not my responsibility to think of this, i asked someone on my team to talk to you on monday....

You know, if you'd just read this book, you'd probably have the time to spend a lot of time fishing. Or, so I hear, anyway.

:-P

Heehhe, that is funny.

At least he didn't say you were going to go phishing. That would be evil.

Are you sure your next big project isn't codeworded "trout" or something? ;-)

Absolutely. In fact, you're almost outgoing.
