And smart people do make the right decisions.

Three examples:
  • ISO votes down Microsoft’s proposal that MS-Word become an international document standard; such would have cemented their monopolistic powers. Sadly, the freedom movement exhausted a lot of energy on this, and MS will return next year to try again. On the postive side, a lot of government officials all over the world were educated about issues they hadn’t heard before, and the freedom movement will continue this education.
  • Palm dropped the Folio before it shipped. This would have been a disaster. The product was misguided and stupid. As a big Palm fan, I concur with the people that begged them not to make it. But Engadget said it best.
  • Lawsuit by home decor merchant against Google has been dropped when they realize the internet isn’t a series of tubes, keywords aren’t trademarks, and that in an open market place like the internet, one has to be in the market to win.

Can you believe Microsoft didn’t win their ISO battle? Holy cow!
