Let’s see. It rained this morning. We lost electricity at about 8am.

C drove me to the train station.

There were tons of people because the trains weren’t running. The rails were flooded.

After waiting 1-2 hours, the train arrived. (they made no announcements on the PA system. I had to call C and have her look it up on the web. You’d think they would announce the trains are late every 30 minutes). I took it all the way to Penn Station instead of going to Hoboken because I figured that with this heat/humidity, I didn’t want to talk 4 blocks (if I go to Penn Station there is a subway that takes me to the office directly).

I get to Penn Station and the A/C/E subways aren’t running. They’re going up town, occasionally, but I need down town. I’m told the N and R are running down town, but I’m frustrated.

It reminds me of this excellent Photoshop job:

So I walked from 34th St all the way to 16th Street. Ugh.

Trust me, the N was NOT running like they claimed. I was diverted from the 6, to the 7 to Port Authority and then the N/R/W. The platform was packed; the Q was sitting there, and I so I found a seat (figured I could catch it to 14th and walk). It sat for 20 minutes, no announcement, then announced it was leaving and running local - onslaught of people.

It's just so frustrating that those damn speakers never work, when conductors choose to share with us what the hell is going on in the first place.

I am so pissed.

I had to take my brother to La Guardia today. We left at 9 for an 11:48 flight. He missed it. I couldn't believe the traffic. (He's getting to Chicago tonight, then getting to OKC in the morning.)

It was so bad Stephen Colbert couldn't get to JFK to inaugurate the Virgin America airlines plane that was named after him.

Not a photoshop

It's even better than that... there's a couple online tools for making them dynamically:

http://www.whereandy.com/subway.html

Generates PDF output on demand. :-)

You are not allowed, ever, to complain about the MTA while some of us are still stuck with MUNI.
