Well none of the Democrats from NEW JERSEY voted for it.

As Elvis is my witness, I will personally donate whatever the maximum allowable contribution is and will canvass door-to-door for any democrat who mounts a primary challenge to Diane Feinstein. *spit*

One "California for Feinstein" party coming right up :)

(seriously, though, yes - even if it came to that, it'd be worth it)

None from Massachusetts either, and we've got more of'em :)

If you look at the map, this vote was split on regional lines.

Kerry abstained from voting, which as far as I'm concerned is morally equivalent to voting in favor. Fuckin' punkass sonovabitch.

Did he deliberately abstain from voting, or was he away?

When are they gonna repeal the PATRIOT act and the DMCA?

I am very, very ashamed that my congresscritter (Melissa Bean) voted for it, and I doubt I will vote for her in the next election.

(also... it was good meeting you at OSCON!)

If all you do is refrain from voting from her, it either won't matter much or will get you a Republican who's all enthusiastic to support bills like this. How about encouraging someone to run against her in the primary, by promising either some volunteer time or a contribution to someone who might be doing so? Or posting on some local political blogs saying you're looking for a primary challenger to support, which might encourage someone who reads it?

Considering that IL-08 was one of the most highly contested districts last year. I don't think there will be any shortage of candidates running for the nomination this year. I haven't researched any possibilities yet, but that's not a bad idea.
