Interview with the head of TSA
Jul. 30th, 2007 02:53 pmInterviewer: Can you please convince me there’s not an Office for Annoying Air Travelers making this sort of stuff up?http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2007/07/conversation_wi_4.html
Kip Hawley: Screening ideas are indeed thought up by the Office for Annoying Air Travelers and vetted through the Directorate for Confusion and Complexity, and then we review them to insure that there are sufficient unintended irritating consequences so that the blogosphere is constantly fueled.
After that, he gets serious. The interview is quite good, mostly because the person doing the interview isn’t a journalist, it’s security guru Bruce Schneier.

The only people attempting to take out planes are utter rank amatures. The doctors in england are an perfect example of this. The shoe bomber is another perfect example.
That being said, yes absolutely the US should stop supporting policies that help produce the terrorism we so very much seem to fear.
