This prints out to about 20 pages but I highly recommend reading it if you want to understand the psych behind social software like Usenix, LJ, IRC, just about everything. I find it fascinating (and I’m only about 75% in).

Wow, this is pretty neat. I've just experienced the collapse of a social group that had been stable for about 1.5 years. Interesting to see how many of the factors Shirky could have foreseen. I'll keep reading to see if I can figure out how to keep it from happening again.
