The song Jacob’s Ladder played on my iPod and I decided to look up the lyrics. I never really had thought much about the lyrics, always assuming that it was either about going to heaven or going to heaven with heaven as a metaphore for a heavenly woman... since most of his songs are love songs. Turns out to be a song about running away from evangelical preachers that just want money. Cool.

the original jacob's ladder, was um...like a code the slaves in the fields sang, about where to go in the underground railroad, etc.
