Mac Video Question

I have a Mac Powerbook. I have a box set of DVDs (a TV show that I like). I'd like to make a new DVD that is just the scenes that I really like of that show.

What software should I buy? I'm pretty confused by all the options.

To point you in the right direction, you can't record the video stream if you use Apple's DVD Player software, so first off, you need to get one of the third party DVD player programs. I think that most will allow you to then save the video stream to something you can edit in, say, iMovie and iDVD at a bare minimum.

I've not researched the specifics as far as other programs are concerned, so I can't give you any real leads. Wade through VersionTracker.
