Date: 2006-03-07 12:42 pm (UTC)I've been considering applying for jobs there... how do you think they would deal with disability issues? (high performance, but the need to accomodate by telecommute) thats the only thing holding me back.

Date: 2006-03-07 07:29 pm (UTC)Note the quote marks arounds "disabled"... obviously the LP wouldn't do that if ADA was really requiring that the person can do the duties of the job. How can someone be able to do the job and still be disabled? Sounds like a totology to me! What's next? A law saying that water has to be wet?
So obviously the ADA is forcing companies to do things against their will, spending money where they otherwise wouldn't have to. Obviously this is some kind of neo-liberal "tax"... it's not bad enough that the government wastes money on helping the disabled, but now forcing companies to do it too? If these people were worth hiring, wouldn't market forces push companies to do this without a law?
Oh, and the little swipe at people with AIDS is lovely. Nothing like a little homophobia to make ones point.
No, obviously none of that is true. Just like all LP arguments sound good on the surface but fall apart with any analysis. Luckily the LP has the benefit of never having won a real election, thus can always claim that if someone would only implement their policies it would work great. It's like an ugly virgin telling people they're JUST SURE they'd be great in the sack if only someone would lay them.
I assert, sir, that you are a liberal with delusions of libterarianism. Please refer to the original cartoon that started this.
