Didn't get the memo

So even the best books of the last 75 years do get “1 star” (i.e. negative) reviews posted on Amazon.com.
For example someone wrote about Lord of the Flies: “I am obsessed with Survivor, so I thought it would be fun. WRONG!!! It is incredibly boring and disgusting. I was very much disturbed when I found young children killing each other. I think that anyone with a conscience would agree with me.”

I have these friends who won't watch "The English Patient" because "adultery is so disgusting." I asked them if they liked the movie "Silence of the Lambs". They said yes. I said, "Ah, so cannibalism and murder are fine, but adultery is disgusting. Got it." Enjoying a work of fiction has NOTHING to do with approving of every action that takes place in it. Sheesh.

It is art; it's not a slasher flick; it's not meant for entertainment.
Says the guy who clearly enjoys the borderline unwatchable rape/exploitation film.
This is why I just don't listen to reviews, except those of my friends or reliable acquaintences...
And I'm surprised a Survivor fan can read.
