It seems that sort of behaviour is encouraged on the polyamory LJ community and people will pick apart the grammar of others when they can't assail a person's idea's and these elitist assholes are so smug that they think they are a lot more intelligent because they can tear someone down due to flawed grammar skills.
That is the main reason I don't post in the polyamory community any more. You make a typo or gramattical goof and you have people riding your ass, and not in a good way either.
Hey, I put together pretty good sentences, most of the time. I use capitalization and punctuation mostly correctly... I don't think I need someone publicly attacking me for one mistake.
Oh yeah, and I hate the owner of polyamory too... similar reasons.. *shrug*
Well part of it was someone in the community held a grudge against me, but 00goddess is a hellacious bitch and does not show any concern for people's safety in the community. My theory is these people were geeks that got picked on and given a chance have become the bullies they hated in high school. Where I am from when you talk smack about someone be prepared to back it up or get beat down. Mind you I am not advocating violence, because I do not want to the more politically correct types thinking I am condoning violence. Maybe in polite circles of Connecticut, backstabbing and catty comments are acceptable, but in working class Jersey City when you do that, be prepared to get called out
Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks poorly of "infinite goddess".. (someone suggested the "00" is supposed to be an infinity symbol)..
But yeah that community just left a bad taste in my mouth.
The other thing was when gay marriages were starting to take place around the country --- any talk of gay marriage was banned in polyamory as being "off-topic." I'm sorry I've always felt that if you're poly (and unless you're poly and purely straight) then gay marriage IS on topic and I've always felt that any poly person who turned a blind eye to the gay rights (and bi rights) struggle currently taking place in the West is really shooting themselves in the foot... but anyway... It's not that I bear a grudge or anything, it's just that I do have a long memory. :)
Well this is a community that is so caught up in following rules, that if you dare challenge them, they will resort to ad hominem attacks and then joke about it on dot_poly_snark. Infinite Goddess? More like an infinite bitch! I also would put mathilde, polyfrog, elynne and classics_cat in category of evil and rotten. Also you have some who justify such behaviour as in the words of this person "We are not here to hold people's hands" But this bitch who shall remained unnamed has said stuff like "Well, We All Cant Hold Hands and Sing Kumbiya" has bitched about "The Nanny State" But I guess when you are expedient yuppie capitalist pig who gives a shit about your brothers and sisters. I have learned it is best to avoid sociopathic zionists with munchasen syndrome. Also before anyone accuses me of being anti-semetic my wife is jewish and is not a supporter of the Ultra Zionist types.
It would be much more effective if we all had the exact same response to grammar police. Sort of like when someone interrupts it gets the message across to say "Excuse me, but I was speaking!" because everyone says it. I just can't think of anything that isn't sarcastic.
Oh One More thing, I am glad I am not the only one who think the polyamory community is too far out of bounds. I thought it was just me and I was crazy.
Ha ha, that reminds me of when I noted in my LJ that I'd written some new song lyrics. I got a comment from someone correcting my grammar in the lyrics.
The sad part was that he was wrong. Boy was I annoyed.
