When you have a secret weapon that the other side doesn’t even know about, you win every battle without trying. When they figure out your secret, they start to defend against it and you need to respond. When they get the same weapon, you are in trouble. Now you have to be GOOD at using the weapon. In fact, you have to compete on the same level and be more skilled at it. That’s a lot more difficult than having a weapon that the other side doesn’t have.
