Selling my Tivo Series 1
Feb. 22nd, 2005 08:28 pmAck! I've had my Tivo series 2 for months and I'm just getting around to selling off my Series 1.
My first time selling something on eBay. I can't believe it took me an hour to enter all this information.
Any suggestions about my advert? Tell me soon. I can only make changes up to when the first bid!

Other than that...nice job :)

Date: 2005-02-22 07:20 pm (UTC)I've known about eBay since before most people did but I've never gotten around to selling anything. I have tons of stuff in my basement that I want to get rid of. I should have done this earlier.

Date: 2005-02-22 05:55 pm (UTC)Anyway.. about the only thing I could think of is you might not want to include tv shows on there. Possible copyright issues? (If you sold blank tapes that happened to have shows on them would that be the same thing?)
I dunno. Personally I'd run the "reset Tivo to original state" mode, and see it as "Just as fresh as the day the box was opened" or something. I mean the flip side of including videos on the Tivo is the buyer might not want to hassle with wiping what's on there so they can start fresh.
The other thing is, and pardon my ignorance, but I don't know if Tivo keeps its idea of what you like based on the machine, or on whether it's a new account. They might want to start over with a fresh Tivo that doesn't have any preconceived ideas of what they want to watch.
Other than that you may want to strongly push the lifetime subscription angle. The fact that they don't have to pay $12.95 per month for the Tivo subscription should be a huge selling point. Do the math as to how much they are saving by buying yours rather than a new Tivo and starting with $12.95 per month..
Good luck! :)

(I really just wanted to say that I actually like that particular image, and album.)

Anybody who's going to buy it, probably knows it already. Kinda like calling a water pipe a bong...
