Durst is a cool progressive comedian. With Bush Jr being elected on Nov 2nd, we need a lot more humor:
It’s always the second term when Presidents get in trouble. Nixon resigned, Reagan had Iran Contra, Clinton lost the wrestling match with his libido. So Bush has to be careful he doesn’t make a major mistake, like invading some country that had nothing to do with 9/11, or running up the largest budget deficit in history, or ignoring a daily briefing entitled, “Bin Laden Determined to Attack America from Within and if You Want to Know When and How and at What Time Turn to Page 3.”

Twenty years ago, I made a joke -- not meant to "tell a joke," but just a silly quip -- in Will Durst's presence, and he laughed. It's still among my proudest moments.

Maybe I appreciate Durst less cuz he lives in San Francisco and I hear too much of him. One election cycle he did the voiceover for a commercial that was on radio and TV at saturation levels FOR a California proposition that was a bond measure for a ton of construction. It was funded by the construction interests and was horrifying to environmentalists. He also does the voiceover for a local radio commercial for the California Building and Construction Trades Council, a construction workers union, basically avocating paving the state and filling each and every square inch with suburbs. It doesn't say that but that's the way I hear it.
