I just spent a day in Pasadena.

I only booked the flight last week, so it was about $2000. I put the tickets on my United credit card (so I got 2000 points), it's 3000 miles each way (another 6000 points) and I got a 500-point bonus for using their self-service thingie at the airport.

The client I was visiting was awsome. Very easy going, and liked the work that I did.

Believe it or not, but in all the years I've been traveling this was the first time I ever flew First Class. Oh. My. God. Real food, amazing seats. I was amazed. The first class seats didn't cost me anything, nor did I use frequent flyer points to do the upgrade. I was simply extremely nice to the woman, and flashed my silver frequent flyer card and she moved me up. Amazing.

It was also one of the shortest trips I've ever taken. I flew up Tuesday afternoon, went to sleep; spent Wednesday with the client, and then flew home at 10pm (arriving in Newark at 6am). I was exhausted, and slept the entire flight home, fresh and ready to go to work.

I had like 5 hours to kill before the flight home. I went to The L.A. Arboretum with a co-worker. It was really amazing. The $2 for the tour-on-the-tram was well worth it.

During the tour I kept remembering various people that I know in L.A. that I really should have tried to meet up with. I couldn't believe that I've been _so_ busy the last 2 weeks that I didn't even remember to contact people in the local area.

When I got back I checked my Marriott, Continental, and United points. It looks like I can now fly 2-3 people anywhere in the U.S. and stay there for a week in one of the nicer Marriotts. Sadly, I have no vacation time to do this. Though, I will be checking with HR to see how much vacation time I really have... maybe next August I'll have enough days to do something wild.
