Now if only the debates have an effect on the election, and the R's still have enough sense of propriety not to steal it outright, we may get somewhere.
I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would vote for georgie in the first place. Being in a delusional state is one possible explanation, and I think the most common one; being rich and short-sighted is another. Some are still furious that Clinton actually got a blowjob! and therefore all Democrats must be minions of the devil, or some such; I find it convenient to dismiss such nutjobs. Is there a fourth? I'm not coming up with one at the moment. It'd be easier to persuade 'em to vote otherwise if we had a good handle on their motivations.
best,
Joel. Who still hopes NJ will lean heavily enough to Kerry that he can afford the luxury of a protest vote.
No, but tell me what you like and I'll see if I can scrounge it.
Today's bonus question: Can you verbally describe the difference between MacAllan's and Laphroaig? (And extra bonus points for correcting my spelling; okay.)

Macallan is just lovely. I've not had the pleasure of trying Laphroaig yet. My experience has been:
Macallan (unsure of the year--had it once a number of years ago) Glenfiddich (10 and 12 yr, regular, port, and french oak finishes) Glenmorangie (10 and 12 yr, admittedly among my favorite scotches) Lagavulin (16 yr--a very peaty Scotch) Glenkeith (10 yr--a beautiful sipping Scotch with a heather overtone)
ps -- do I know you yet, or are you a new friend?
I'm a friend of Tal's.. I do not think we've met, however...
4 years ago I saw an interview where a woman said she was voting for Bush because she couldn't vote for someone that cheated on his wife. The reporter said, "but Bill Clinton isn't running for office, Gore is." She replied, "whatever."

Date: 2004-10-14 12:12 pm (UTC)Nope. He's even more convinced now that he's "better than Kerry."
"Why, dad? I don't get it."
"Well he's a liar, and he's lied about his military service."
"Ok, dad--you've just described Bush."
"Bush served!"
"He did? Then why was he discharged?"
"That's a lie!"
"Oh.. and Kerry didn't serve in 'Nam then?"
"Well.. he's lied about his service."
"How?"
"He just did."
"Fine. Be a dittohead, Dad."
"What?"
"A dittohead--someone who just listens to what Rush tells them to think."
"You don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah dad. That's why it's been since the end of May that I can't find work. Because of those evil Democrats."
"That's right!"
"You're a fool, dad. You really are."
[not exactly word-for-word... but this is what I get to deal with.]

I've got a spare Sam Adams and a funnel, if you're in need...

Um, that isn't likely any more.

The "whatever" response is exactly what I was pointing at about the delusional folks, though.
