We need to turn Republican tactics on the Republicans.
They're very good at publicly recommending bad advise to their opponent. During the Clinton/Monica thing the Republicans were very smart to have everyone on message saying, "If Clinton would just admit he did it, this all would go away." Of course, once he admitted he was guilty the investgation stopped and he was guilty, guilty, guilty. (Like once you admit to a cop that you were going over the speed limit, the attempts to talk your way out of it stop.) It's a bit too late but it dawns on me now that the better response to the Swift Boat thing would have been, "If Bush just admitted that he was AWOL, we could go on to talking about (insert Democratic theme)." It encourages the thinking that he is guilty but leaves us blameless. It would be interesting to see how the Republicans would deal with a taste of their own medicine.

They'd doing it again with the meme that Kerry's shouldn't attack Bush because it will scare undecided voters. Yeah, right.

What I want

I want someone to bring up Bush's potential pre-1975 criminal record. You know, how back in 2000 he said that stuff before then was off-limits and the press just kind of went along with it?

So what we need to say is, "If Bush would just come clean with what he has to be hiding about what he did before 1975, then we could go on talking about whether he's the right choice for this country."

I think we need to also take the tactic of just out-n-out denying or lying, and then blaming the GOP. That is what the the GOP does, and they are easy to catch at it after the fact, but it seems that nobody pays attention to anything after the fact. So blame them for eveything (which I think isn't far off the mark anyway), and just deny or lie about anything else and don't worry about trivial things like consequenses or the future. At least until we get Bush out of office....
