I was reading the label of a fire-extinguisher recently. It points out that you should aim at the base of the fire. That's good advice. Why waste it on hitting the flames, you gotta go to the source or you will just use up the canister and not get anything done.

Someone leaked a memo a year or so ago written by Karl Rove saying, "Run on the war." That is, Bush's key statement in his re-election will be "We fought 2 wars! I’m great! " The memo told campaign advisors for other Republicans to hitch their wagon to this theme, so they can win too. "Run on the war."

I’m really impressed at how Dean is hitting Bush at the base of the fire. The way he couches it so perfectly so that he doesn’t look like a loopy peace-nic.
[He supported the first Iraq war, the Afganistan war, but didn’t support the second Iraq war because he didn’t believe Bush’s reasons.]
"As the Commander in Chief of the United States military forces I will never hesitate to send American troops anywhere in the world to defend our county but I will never send our sons and our daughters, and our children to die in a foreign country without telling the truth to the American people about why they’re there."

My favorite quote: If you are going to be strong on defense, you have to have a foreign policy based on more than just petulance.
