Before I left for my 2-week trip, I got rid of nearly all the food in my house (technically: my shelves on the pantry, since I share a house with 2 others). Anyway, it's now 2am and I have nothing to eat. Ugh. I'm curious what people suggestion for me to purchase for non-meal snacking.

Memories of a Dilbert-like event

I just remembered something that happened a long time ago.

In email I told someone that I was frustrated that she was keeping me waiting for something, and not replying about when the milestone is expected, or even when they expect to know when the milestone will be known. I told her that when dealing with her sometimes I feel like I'm in that old joke about how do you keep an idiot in suspense.

New scene. I'm being repremanded because she claimed I had called her stupid, something that one shouldn't do to co-workers no matter what the situation. I'm the "soft skills" guy at technical conferences and here I am being accused of... oh well, it doesn't matter. Anyway, insults are not a good workplace thing and even a perceived insult requires intervention. I searched through all my email trying to find when I did this, of if I did this. Not being able to find anything like it, I just took it under advisement and forgot about the whole situation.

A long time later I realized that here's what must have happened. She's so dumb that she didn't even know the "how do you keep an idiot in suspense" joke, and assumed that I was calling her an idiot. I was being self-deprecating and she couldn't figure that out. To be honest, I always thought she was pretty smart. I didn't realize how clueless she actually was until she brought it up!
