I no longer refer to Bush's "Approval Rating".
Now I refer to it as Bush's "Pity Factor".
Now I refer to it as Bush's "Pity Factor".
Think about it. After 9/11 everyone kept saying that his 90% approval rating was inflated due to terror attacks; that the "numbers were soft" because of the war(s). Now I realize that what that means is the right term is Pity Factor.
[Updated: corrected some typos. Serves me right for now posting from Safari, which spell-checks textbox fields.]
