Wesley Clark explains what Reagan did right, and what Bush is doing wrong

This article was very interesting to me because I previously hadn't understood what the neocons were up to in academic terms. The article can be summarized by something Howard Dean kept saying: The USSR didn't fall just because of U.S. military power, but because eveyrone respected the U.S. and wanted to be like them (culturally). Bush has destroyed that; nobody wants to be like America now.

Can we plough Kennebunkport under and sew it with salt? Make a national burial-ground out of it, or something?

Bush and his coterie seem hell-bent on recreating the trajectory of the Soviet Union. Of course, we're a richer country, so they have to squander a lot more to do it. But they're rising to the challenge.

The U.S. wasn't the promay reason the USSR fell, anyway.
