I watched A Mighty Wind this morning. Not the most laugh-out-loud comedy of the mockumentory series (This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show) but for some reason I really bonded with the characters and enjoyed it immensely. The music is certainly the best part. He walks a fine line between reproducing the spirit of folk music and mocking it.

I was reluctant to see it in the theater because I didn't like This Is Spinal Tap (guess I didn't watch enough rock documentaries growing up, so most of the jokes went right by me). But it's in our Netflix queue.

My boarding school took us to see Spinal Tap when it came out, on a big school field trip. We drove 50 or so miles to Reno just for that. But then, the documentaries almost didn't matter, we were living in that time.

I would have rated it higher, but that may come from having grown up listening to folk music.
