[Seen in lots of journals...] I know very little about some of the people who read my journal. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all; we've never met and we've had little real chat-together. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. I thank you, regardless, for reading me and friending me. Please take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Oh, yes, I remember, there's so-and-so, they like spinach!" I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this, especially the people I know well already. You can try to throw in something Totally Unexpected if you like, Dear Readers. I'm curious to hear about you.

You friended me first, and at the time I had just been introduced to a bunch of folks who hang out in IRCland with the likes of [livejournal.com profile] catya and [livejournal.com profile] shayde. You had her as a friend so I assumed you were of that ilk but I don't think I had met you on channel so it seemed fairly random/odd to me. I mean, my journal is friends-only so it's not like random people friend me. But I checked out your userinfo, and more than half of your interests are either bolded already or are also my interests that I either didn't think to list or prefer not to list publicly... so I added you back. I guess I lurk, mostly. I don't know whether you lurk in my journal or filter me out. Perhaps we should find each other on AIM sometime because it seems that with all we have in common it could be an interesting chat.

I think it was the juxtaposition of network topology and bdsm-- how many people would list two things so different and so important to me? I just checked-- we're the only two on LJ who do. It seems likely that we're connected on the graph of our poly lives.

You know this already about me. I'm a network and sysadmin geek, I am queer, I am poly, and I am kinky as all f---. Our friends and acquaintances intersect in so many places that if we hadn't met at USENIX, we would have met sooner or later.

All about me

I still love the time that I and a handsome young man realized we were both telling sexy stories about the same hot stud. ;)

I think we have a few friends in common. I noticed you friended me, so I returned. We've never talked, not even in comments. I like video games, and macs. I'm an independent consultant and pretty shy- one could assume those things are mutually exclusive but I do alright. I also really like monkeys.

In addition to hot tubs and Scotch (which you knew already), and all the things in my interests list, I am quite fond of eggnog.

I am not, however, fond of eggnog once it's been abandoned in a sippy cup for several days in a corner of my office.

(The office recovered. The sippy cup did not -- I had to toss all its parts, even after washing, and rerun the dishwasher load to boot!)

I've known you since I met you at my first bi conference in Boston 12 years ago, and our lives have intersected in lots of ways since then. I love drive-through car washes, especially on my birthday.

I am utterly terrified of crickets and when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I usually set eyes on is a TRS 80 model 4D.

As far as friending you is concerned, it seems that the more deeply enmeshed in the bi and poly communities I get, the more your name keeps popping up. I was starting to get curious. After listening to a discussion at my breakfast table last Sunday wherein your name came up yet again, I became even more curious. Yesterday, a friend emailed me a pic of one of his friends. Guess who one of the people in the picture is?

So, I trolled your journal and Friended you. *smiles, waves* I feel inexplicably better, now...

You know me from elbows. We've met a couple of times in person.

I'm into SF, filk, food, sewing, and broadcasting (I anchor the news part-time at San Jose's only all-news radio station). I like weird foods, am hypoglycemic, and have a life-threatening allergy to mushrooms.

I think we met one weekend when you were in the SF Bay Area. You and my partner [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbit gave talks at a conference held by Lucent. You gave her a copy of your book for me, which I am currently re-reading and have recommended to my co-workers.

My favorite tea is Lapsang Souchong, but I'm not allowed to make it at home cause everyone thinks it smells like swamp.

I have a dicebag made of faux-fur in the pattern of some sort of spotted cat.

I have vast quantities of SF artwork.

I have a secret Christmas Wrapping Paper fetish.

I forget exactly when and how we met. But something you don't know about me: I underwent psychological testing, which included IQ testing, when I was in kindergarten (if you ask why offline, I'll tell you). My IQ is/was 123.

Another person from NJ? Cool! What parts?

I live in South Jersey, work closer to Central and frequently haul myself up to Trenton to do research. My partner, [livejournal.com profile] kit_kallisti, is a network admin--among other things. We live together, and she works in North Jersey.

Ever come to a www.bizone.org event?

I've done a couple munches, and we'll both be attending Death Bi Chocolate--hopefully accompanied by a couple of visiting North Jersey friends. :)

I've been getting my boss to foot the bill for me to go to LISA the past few years because I've managed to pull a minor miracle out of my ass every year and somehow implicate the conference.

In addition to being bi and poly, I'm a witch: a green or hedge witch by current new-age parlance, definitely not a Wiccan. I depend a lot more on intuition than ritual, as does my primary/husband. I usually blame my natural magical abilities (which can be a handicap at times) on being half Finnish and one quarter Irish.

Hi, Tom! You know me from BiZone. I love spinach, especially with lots of garlic and some olive oil. I'm more of a Kucinich supporter, but I think your decision to leave cube werld for a while to work on the Dean campaign is brave and admirable. I'm sure you won't regret it. No one gets old and regales the kids with stories of spending another year in IT, right?

Here's something about me that you don't know: I've recently quit smoking! I haven't had a cigarette in almost two weeks. I'm glad I'm finally managing to do this, because there's a slowly growing list of things I'd like to do that I can't do with a pack a day habit hanging around my neck. I don't mean like run a marathon-- hell, I couldn't do that before I started smoking-- but go live on a commune or something like that, where I'm living off a few bags of rice and beans, I can't bring my nasty, expensive habit with me.

Checking with the S.O., but hope to be at your party on the 30th.

About me?

I like spinach AND broccoli. I prefer broccoli, though -- it's the ubervegetable!

I'm utterly creeped out by almost anything that has more than four legs, and terrified of getting stung or bitten by creepy-crawlies.

Hmm. what don't you know about me...

Well.. I love spinach (fresh or steamed please, not boiled to death!) and broccoli (same stipulations).

I love my TiVo (oh wait, you know that already!), I love sci-fi and fantasy novels, I love sleeping in late on weekends, and I love to play with music and play with remixing... :)

Oh yeah

Remember them? I *really* wanted to like sixdegrees.com. LJ has a lot of the same benefits though. I love surfing from FOAF to FOAF.

If you go to Arisia, Lunacon, or Philcon, you might have run into me as half of KramerCon, the chocolate and music parties at those cons. I also help Crash with his Junkyard Wars events at the cons sometimes.

You know me from Elboids/Suspoids originally. But I also dragged you to Boston once to do a talk at http://www.blu.org about your excellent book.

I love very strong tastes, new sensations, learning anything geeky that does not make Bill Gates any richer, coming through for those that depend on me, exposing injustice and intolerance, writing code that makes compilers beg for more, and very, very dark chocolate.
