An organization working on domestic partnership/same sex marriage/glbt rights in New Jersey needs a volunteer that can snag annoucements (which will be emailed to you) and add them to a web site. The web site exists and has a good framework in place, you just need to add the new messages. Minimal HTML experience needed. Will train.

I'm interested, and more than capable. Have they considered installing something like Movable Type so they can post their own updates? I'm a friend of [livejournal.com profile] dglenn; drop me a line through LJ with the organization's contact info. Thanks!

For once I'm reading here, and I miss this by hours. Tom, if [livejournal.com profile] dmk doesn't work out, ping me? I'm certainly trainable...

Can the website be updated remotely? i.e. does the volunteer need to be local?

Are the updates being collected by this organization, or some script or national group? If they're being collected manually and localy, why do they need a separate volunteer to update the web page?

Not that more volunteers is a bad thing, and this might draw someone in, so maybe I should shut up, but bad process irks me.

If I could automate it I would have already.

That's what my question was predicated on. The posting can't be automated. The question is: Is the sending of the information to the volunteer automated? In other words, is it any more work to hand this off to a new volunteer than it is for the e-mail-sender to post the web updates?
