Begala says choice makes McCain’s age, health, and judgment central issues.

I was wondering if we’d be able to find a polite way to bring up the fact that McCain HAS HAD SKIN CANCER 50,000 TIMES AND CONSTANTLY HAS “DARK SPOTS” REMOVED WHICH NEVER GET TESTED TO SEE IF THEY ARE CANCEROUS BECAUSE IT’S POLITICALLY SAFER TO NOT KNOW.

Gosh, my caplock key got stuck. j/k

If this sentiment is echoed enough, maybe they will pull a Miers after all...

If you start with someone who's absolutely impossible, it makes whatever your real choice is look positively wonderful. :(

Let's wait and see what the RNC has to say.....

I haven't read the article, but let's look at the facts....

Has 5 children...

the youngest is 5 months old...

with Down's Syndrome...

And she's going to run for Vice President?!?!!? no kidding she's irresponsible.

(Now, I'm not saying she should be a stay-at-home mom, I'm just saying that the Vice Presidency is very demanding, as are 5 children, as is one 5 month old, with Down's Syndrome.

Will she ever sleep?!?!?!

Robert Kennedy had ten children by the time he was running for president. Not that your correspondent sitting here in an Obama shirt would ever vote McCain/Palin, but really, I'm sure she would have no shortage of help around the house, as it were.

While I accept that everyone is welcome to do what they want with their lives, my heart aches for children who don't get to see/play with their mommy or daddy. I'm sure the children are loved, and loved well, but no matter how many aunts/uncles/cousins/nannies/villagers/whatever they have, most of them will feel a loss because their mother/father wasn't around a lot.

By that argument, no parent should ever run for public office.

No. Perhaps no parent should ever get a Ph.D., or join the military, or be a truck driver.....

I'm not saying no parent should ever commit to something that will mean they don't see their children often. I'm just saying that their children miss out on more contact with them, and I feel bad for the children....and the lack of sleep the parent will get.

I have no doubt that parents who are away from their children for a long time feel guilty about being away from their kids. It's a tradeoff, and hopefully there's been a lot of thought behind this particular tradeoff, but most of me doubts that there has been. No, it's not my place to doubt it; and it's not my place to judge, but that's the beauty of the USA -- that I can.

My heart also aches for children who don't have clean water, a large backyard to play in, and other creature comforts. That doesn't mean I think that "no parent should ever live in an apartment building", it just means I want all children to have some of the nicer experiences I had while growing up.
