Talk about being out of touch. An advisor to McCain said in an interview that all we have to do is have the Census bureau stop categorizing “uninsured” people, or categorize them as “people that have healthcare if they go to the emergency room”. Look at that! Suddenly everyone in the US has healthcare!

How out of touch can one presidential advisor be???

The comments provide me with some hope... It seems that a lot of people commenting on cnn.com get *exactly* what is wrong with this. Doesn't mean they all won't vote for McCain, but at least they understand the issue to some degree...

I love this at the end of the story:

"UPDATE: McCain's campaign says they do not consider Goodman to be an official campaign adviser"

Yeah, I'd back away from that guy as fast as possible, too. Wow.

EMTALA for the win, I guess. Who cares if it's driving hospitals and doctors out of the emergency care business?

Not only that, individuals without insurance will be billed approximately triple what an insurance company will pay. Hospitals will also try to recover the money from anyone who they think there is a chance of getting any of it. Too bad if you can't pay your rent or mortgage payment.

Wow!

That was easy! Wonder why no one thought of that before!
