Being from the smallest state, he doesn’t have to spend much on campaigns, thus hasn’t had to raise huge amounts of money from lobbyists. Therefore he hasn’t sold out. In fact, he’s the senator with the 2nd lowest income.

Being from Delaware, he doesn’t own a home in D.C. like a lot of senators. He takes the train home (80 minutes) every night so he can be with his family.

Biden has real-world foreign policy experience that matches (complements) Obama’s economic and legal experience.

Biden is a bull-dog... he’s a fighter.

I’m very happy with the selection. I think this is going to put Obama over the top and push the Democrats to a victory. Historians will mark this moment as the key decision that lead to an Obama victory.

But..But.. the Hillary would have Saved the Universe, Given Us Gay Marriage, Reduced Emissions, and Smote Ebil!

Rlly!

{sarcasm_mode:OFF}

(Can you tell I've been reading too many whining blogs today about how Obama has t3h d00m3d us to more Bush?)

My question to you is: given your goal to relentlessly frame all things Obama in a positive fashion, who could he have chosen that you would not have responded to in this fashion?

P.S., didn't you suggest the "I’m very happy with the selection. I think this is going to put Obama over the top and push the Democrats to a victory. Historians will mark this moment as the key decision that lead to an Obama victory." boilerplate before you had any idea who he'd choose?

*shrug* I think Biden's a pretty good choice. I'd have preferred Sebelius, but on the other hand she might do better staying where she is and working to undo "What's The Matter With Kansas?".

I'm commenting on Tom's post, not the choice of Biden. I don't know Biden well enough to comment (except that he ran for president himself before I was old enough to vote).

He could have chosen Sebelius or anyone else that would have put the campaign at risk. Like, say, Clinton.

I was thinking about that--there's gotta be times when he spends the night in DC for various reasons--receptions, late night sessions, etc. I wonder whose sofa he sleeps on. . .

Small nitpick

Rhode Island is the smallest state, not Delaware. (If you were talking by population, that would be Wyoming, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_population).)

Honestly, though, I don't care who the VP choice is, as long as they win.
