What about this country's drug policy?

"Addiction is a troubling health problem, not a judicial problem. But I don't favor legalizing marijuana or decriminalizing it. I think that if you're a drug addict or a veteran pot smoker, you need rehab, not jail. But if you're drug dealing in the schools, you go to jail, or if you're shooting convenience store clerks, you go to jail. What a stupid rationale for not decriminalizing marijuana.... where does shooting clerks come into that equation? I hate to use the same argument as the anti-hate crime legislation folks, but shooting a clerk is illegal all by itself, without it being complicated by the fact that the guy who shot him was in a psychotic rage over the lack of Ho-Hos.
