I haven’t had a video came console in my house for nearly 20 years. I realize that’s longer than a lot of LJers have been alive, but, alas.
My family had the original “Pong” video game in the late 1970s.
We got a Atari 2600 console Christmas 1980.
While I had a series of computers that played good games (VIC-20, Commodore 64, Amiga, DOS PC, Windows PC, Mac) I never really played many games on them.
Fast forward nearly 20 years.... I bought a Wii about 6 weeks ago. It has been wonderful.
This week I ordered Guitar Hero III for the Wii. I can’t wait for it to arrive.

The "under 50 bucks" model was made years later when it was considered a dead platform, but then someone at Atari realized they could cost-reduce it to $50 (I think it had been $200 previously) and people would be willing to buy old games, possibly a market for used games would come up.
