After the theater, Thursday night
Feb. 22nd, 2008 09:31 pmAs we left the theater we discovered that the police had blocked off 45th and 44st street. Everyone exiting broadway theaters were being quickly ushered to the avenues.
A glass window had shattered and sprayed glass onto the street. A woman had been hurt. They weren't sure if other windows were about to do the same. They had to completely remove all the remaining glass, cover the window with plastic, and who knows what else... late at night when most sane carpenters are asleep.
The problem was that our car was parked in a pay lot that only has exits on those two streets. Ugh.
After being told it should be all over in "an hour" and not believing them, we walked around trying to find someplace open we could get dessert. We ended up at the bar of the Marriott. We kept going to the street to find out "it should be another 30 minutes", yeah right. We finally got going around 2am and weren't in bed until 3am.
sexykneesocks has planned on going home by train left us around 11pm and had blogged about the incident by the time we even had access to our car.
